Share the Gospel
A sermon I heard recently, mentioned that 90% of American Christians will never share their faith with another person. Why do we find this so difficult and why do we seldom hear of people who do it on a regular basis? The answers that I have heard most are that people do not feel comfortable or know how to share the gospel. There are other things in life that we don’t know how to do, but if it’s
important, we google it, we hire someone, we figure it out. There are also other things in life that we have made ourselves do, even though it wasn’t “comfortable.” Maybe this was a presentation at work, asking someone out, exercising, admitting a mistake, learning a new job, and I could go on and on. As far as “I don’t know how,” it’s the same answer. We do things that we think are important, even if it’s uncomfortable, even if we have to learn how to do it. So here is where I ask you, “Are the eternal lives of those around you important?” Even more, Jesus commanded us to do this. How silly will your excuse be when you stand before Him one day? Throughout my life, I have shared “Jesus stuff” with people I meet but hardly ever did I share the full gospel. I have a video giving an example. My presentation is not eloquent and I pretty much imitated others I’ve heard but condensed it into a 10 minute version. I encourage you to sit down and listen, then write it out in a way that you can remember and practice. When I first did this last year, it took me several hours. It was frustrating at times and I wanted to give up. However, I know that I walk in obedience when I share the truth of Jesus Christ with others. You would be surprised how many people say they know about Jesus but after hearing the full gospel, they say they really did not know and that they had heard bits and pieces throughout their lives but not the full gospel. Something happens when we share the story of Jesus. It is our job to tell people and it is the job of the Holy Spirit to convict.
Mark 16:15-16
He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.”
Matthew 28:19-20
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely, I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Matthew 9:37
Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into
His harvest field.”
